Research Areas:

Wang’s research focuses on design and preparation of functional nanomaterials and advanced ceramics for applications in areas including clean energy, water treatment and environmentally friendly technologies. His current research activities include tailoring composite materials composed of transition metal oxides and active carbon fibre fabric or graphene sponge as supercapacitor and Li-ion battery electrodes, manganese oxides and rare earth oxides as heterogeneous catalysts for water disinfection and detoxification. Fabrication of all materials is mainly based on the microwave solvothermal process by combining nano-composition, surface modification or element substitution techniques. Substantial research work has been done under his supervision on the synthesis of advanced materials, properties characterization and testing, and investigation of the reaction mechanism under microwave irradiation.
