Delegations from Nambia and Indonesia Visit UJN

    University of Jinan, Octobrt.7,2015:On September 2, the Mayor Delegation of Windhoek, Namibia, the Education and Culture Delegation of East Java, Indonesia, and the Parliament Speaker Delegation of Sidoarjo City, altogether 20 people visited University of Jinan. Wu Yuming, Chairman of Jinan Municipal Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Zhang Shiping, Deputy Director of Jinan Municipal Foreign Affairs Office accompanied the foreign guests. UJN President Cheng Xin, and Vice President Wang Baoxian met with the guests. The relevant leaders of International Office and the School of International Education and Exchange attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Sun Yanmei, Director of International Office.

    President Cheng Xin extended his warm welcome to the Namibia and Indonesia delegations for their visit to University of Jinan and briefed to the guests on UJN's teaching, scientific research, social services, and international education. President Cheng Xin said that with the rapid development of information technology and the deepening of economic globalization, exchanges between countries are becoming increasingly frequent, and the friendly relations between China and Namibia and Indonesia have a long history. University of Jinan hopes to carry out exchanges in teaching and scientific research with the institutions of higher education in the two countries, strengthen cooperation and enhance friendship.

    President Cheng Xin pointed out that in recent years, UJN has made rapid progress in the education of foreign students, and is now able to provide international students with different kinds of scholarships such as Chinese Government scholarship, the Confucius Institute scholarship, Shandong Provincial Government scholarship, Jinan friendship city scholarship and university scholarships. Welcome the outstanding students from Namibia and Indonesia to study at University of Jinan.

    Mr. Muesee Kazapua, Mayor of Windhoek, Namibia said that since it obtained political independence in 1990, Namibia has maintained the growing frequent and friendly exchanges with China in economics, politics, and education. At present, there are three universities in Windhoek. Windhoek Municipal Government will strive to build a platform of exchange and cooperation for universities, and actively promote the students to study at University of Jinan, expecting University of Jinan to educate professional talents in water conservancy, municipal engineering, chemical engineering, and resources and environment that are in urgent need in Namibia.

    Mr. Aref Rovich , Deputy Director of Cultural Tourism Bureau of East Java, Indonesia expressed thanks in his speech to University of Jinan for her efforts in training the Indonesian students, and hoped that more and more Indonesian students will study in University of Jinan. Mr. Suram Numavan , Parliament Speaker of Sidoarjo City, Indonesian said that Sidoarjo City and Jinan City are friendship city. Through this platform, there are frequent exchanges between students of both sides. He sincerely hoped that Sidoarjo City and University of Jinan will build closer and closer cooperation and establish a long-term and comprehensive cooperative relations between both sides.

    The Mayor Delegation of Windhoek, Namibia, the Education and Culture Delegation of East Java, Indonesia, and the Parliament Speaker Delegation of Sidoarjo City were invited to attend the "Connectivity by Confucianism" Culture Exchange in Jinan 2015, and visiting University of Jinan was one of the activities. "Connectivity by Confucianism" Culture Exchange Jinan 2015 attracted more than 170 people in 26 friendly delegations from 16 countries and regions to visit Jinan City, and participate in various cultural exchange activities.
