Delegation from Sangmyung University Of South Korea Visits UJN

University of Jinan(UJN), June. 16, 2014: On June 12, the delegation of  Sanmyung University from South Korea  came to visit  UJN. UJN Vice PresidentWang Cai Xianjin met with the guests. The relevant responsible personnel were present at the meeting.
   UJN vice president  Cai extended his warm welcome to Goo Kee Heon, president of Sanmyung University, and his colleagues and briefly introduced the history, status and internationally educational goals of University of Jinan. Vice President Cao said that China and South Korea have a long history of cultural exchange. In recent years, there have been increasingly wide and deep communication in economy, trade, culture and education between China and South Korea, attracting more and more Chinese students to learn the Korean language and understand the Korean culture. The visit of President Goo Kee Heon and his colleagues this time will further promote the all-round cooperation between UJN and Sanmyung University in exchanging students, teachers' visit, running school and scientific research.

Then, Goo Kee Heon, President of Sangmyung University, extended his thanks for the hospitality and made a brief introduction of Sangmyung University. President Goo Kee Heon stated that being the nearest province to South Korea, Shandong Province has also had a long history of exchanges with South Korea. Sangmyung University and University of Jinan have many similarities in subjects and disciplines, providing an opportunity for exchanges and cooperation between the universities. Especially in the aspect of cultural research, both universities may carry out a series of activities via the Institute for Korean-Chinese Culture for joint promotion of the Korean culture and the Chinese culture.

    After the talk, Vice President Cai Xianjin accompanied the foreign guests to the School of International Education and Exchange, attending and speaking respectively at the "Launching Ceremony for the Korean Language Preparatory Class of Sangmyung University and UJN". Finally, the foreign guests and the responsible personnel from the International Office and the School of International Education and Exchange discussed about the specific cooperative programs and reached a consensus.

Background  Information:

    Sangmyung University was founded in 1937. It has two campuses, which are respectively located in Seoul and Cheonan. It is a well-known comprehensive university in South Korea combining humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, arts and sciences of physical education. The university has a powerful faculty, high teaching quality, frequent international exchanges and sister school relationship with many universities across the world. In 2006, the university was awarded the title of A-class university by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources of South Korea. Now Sangmyung University has 15 undergraduate schools, and 7 graduate schools with a total undergraduate and graduate students of more than 15000.
