Mayor Delegation of Västerås City of Sweden Visited UJN

University of Jinan, May. 30, 2014: On the  morning of May 29, Ms. Ulla Persson, Mayor of  V&auml Ster&arings City of Sweden, led a 6-member team to visit University of Jinan (UJN). UJN Council Chairman Fan Yuejin met with the foreign guests. Zhang Shiping, Jinan Foreign Affairs Deputy Director, attended the meeting with some other related officials.

UJN Council Chairman Fan Yuejin firstly expressed his warm welcome for the arrival of Mayor Ulla Persson and other accompanying personnel and briefly introduced the basic situation of the college. At the meeting, Council Chairman Fan said that Sweden is one of the very first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with China and the two countries have a long history of exchanges. He mentioned that the young people are the future of the world and the university, as the cradle of culture for young people, has a responsibility for young talent. Council Chairman Fan also expressed that all faculty of  UJN would warmly welcomes the upcoming Swedish youth delegation in July and the students of Västerås City to study in university and he is looking forward to establishing friendly relations with the universities of Västerås City. And he believed that Ulla Persson delegation's visit to Jinan and the univeristy will further promote cooperation between two cities and it will open a new chapter of exchange between the two cities. Finally, Council Chairman Fan offered his best wishes for the success of Ulla Persson Mayor's visit to Jinan.

Ms.Ulla Persson expressed thanks for the warm reception of the university. She said that the trip to Jinan and the visit to UJN made her feel at home. Taking this opportunity, she expressed her welcome on behalf of Västerås City. She sincerely wished the delegation of Jinan and the faculty and students of  UJN would visit Västerås City to carry out cooperation and exchanges in related fields. After the meeting, the delegation visited the part of campus attractions.

Västerås City is the capital city of Sweden Westerman state that has a friendly relationship with Shandong province. The city located in a central location in Sweden is the sixth largest city in Sweden as well as one of the most important industrial city. The exchange between Jinan and Västerås City began in 2012. In October 2013, the two cities signed a cooperation letter of intent to establish mutually beneficial cooperation, aiming at promoting the exchange of science and technology, trade, education and other areas.
