The 2015 Summer Camp in China for the Confucius Institute at Community College of Denver Closed

On the afternoon of July 30, the closing ceremony of the summer camp for the Confucius Institute at Community College of Denver was held in University of Jinan. Xu Gang, the Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute at Community College of Denver, Lu Jiansheng, the teacher in charge of the summer camp and the camp students, leader of the International Office and staff members as well as UJN¡¯s volunteers attended the ceremony.

Zhang Jiqiao, Deputy Director of the International Office first extended his congratulations on the summer camp students for the achievements they made during their stay in China. He said that culture is the common precious wealth of the human beings and each country¡¯s culture has made innovative development in mutual communication and reference. The Confucius Institute has become a bridge for disseminating the Chinese culture and promoting friendship between China and other countries in the world. The students of the Confucius Institute at Community College of Denver came to China by way of participating in the annual exchange program of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and experience the ancient Chinese culture with modern civilization. More than ten days of summer camp is far from enough for students to deeply perceive the profound Chinese culture. He hoped that, as envoys of the Sino-US cultural exchange, the students should bring good memories to the United States, and also welcome the students to come to University of Jinan again for a deeper learning and experience.

After that, the Chinese Dean Xu Gang, Mr. Lu Jiansheng, representative of the summer camp students and representative UJN¡¯s student volunteers made speeches respectively, recalling the memorable things during the summer camp, and expressing their hope of strengthening exchange between the two sides and good wish to the Confucius Institute. During the summer camp, the two sides established a deep friendship between teachers and students, and also had deeper understanding of the culture of both sides.

At the ceremony, Deputy Director Zhang Jiqiao awarded certificates to the Confucius Institute summer camp students and UJN's student volunteers, hoping that the summer camp students will continue to work hard at and make progress in the Chinese language and culture in the future, and expressing gratitude and giving a high praise to the student volunteers for their participation in the activities and the successful completion of the task.

Finally, the celebration was opened in the Sino-US cooperation program of model show. The summer camp students demonstrated what they have learned and perceived during the summer camp, including short speech in Chinese, ensemble of cucurbit flute Descendants of the Dragon, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting and Tai Chi Chuan. The colorful talented show fully reflected their love and recognition of the Chinese traditional culture, and won the audience's warm applause. UJN'student volunteers also demonstrated the the high spirited, strenuous and enterprising spirit of UJN students through wonderful dance and beautiful songs. Teachers and students of both sides danced and sang together, expressing the feelings of a reluctant parting in a warm and pleasant atmosphere.
